Our Story
Dan Druffel Inc. (DDI) is an award-winning landscaping services provider in the Greater Cincinnati Area. The company was founded by two enterprising Cincinnati high school entrepreneurs who formed a partnership around the core philosophy that consistent dedication to quality services at a competitive price point would provide longevity. During their first year of operations grossed just over $8,000 in revenue. A mere seven years later the company had grown by over 1,600 percent, but partner Mike Schmerge elected to sell his equity in the business to Dan and the "DDI" brand was born.
Since Mike's departure DDI has continued its growth including investing in property in Morrow, Ohio to develop a wholesale nursery business now known as Double D Plant Ranch, as well as the investment of the operations center in East Walnut Hills. However, we owe our continued success and growth to the same core philosophy that existed when Mike and Dan started the business. Whether it's a modest landscape installation to beautify a small front yard or a plush pool and patio installation DDI is always dedicated to providing premier services and a positive return on experience to our customers.

Leah has been managing our administrative operations since she joined us in 1998. Among her many other responsibilities she is our primary customer service representative for DDI and the wholesale nursery. Leah is also a Notary Public.

Brandon has been around the industry his entire life. He started working with landscape crews in 2004 where he started to develop his knowledge. He obtained his Bachelors in Science majoring in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University in 2008. He then spent two years working for Michael Baker & Associates in Washington DC. Since joining DDI in 2010, Brandon has designed a multitude of projects varying in size and scale. He has been awarded two state awards by the Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association. Brandon is a LEED Accredited Design Professional by the United States Green Building Council.

Dave has nearly four decades of industry experience. Dave worked at the Warren County Conservation Association and Tepe Lanscaping prior to joining us in 1987. Since then Dave has been growing, harvesting, and providing plants for the landscape division and whole nursery. Aside from DDI, Dave's clients include landscape contractors, municipalities, and golf courses among others. Dave is a licensed commercial pesticide applicator.
Rick has nearly four decades of industry experience. He started with Dan Druffel Inc. (DDI) in 1987 and has worked on a number of prestigious projects including a number of state and local award-winning projects. He is a certified pesticide applicator and a certified landscape installer.
Pody became involved in the business in 1980. Pody manages the accounting and financial analysis for the businesses. Pody spent three years of her collegiate career at the Ohio State University before completing her Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati with an emphasis in marketing.
Dan founded the company in 1970 as a small lawncare company which quickly grew into the industry leading design build firm it is today. Dan has extensive project management experience serving as the general contractor on a plethora of different types of engagements for over four decades. As a testament to Dan's success the Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association Awards Program has accredited him with 26 state awards and the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati has accredited him with 20 Civic Beautification Awards. Dan is also a certified pesticide applicator.
